“Six years ago, we didn’t have an online learning environment. We used practice pages, which had sums on them with the answers at the bottom of the page. When children started to calculate a sum, they could check the answer at the bottom. In this way, they could see if they were on the right track.
However, children have a tendency to want to finish as quickly as possible, and then they don’t perform the steps correctly. Before, you didn’t notice this until later. They handed in their homework a week after class, and we had another week to check it. So only two weeks later did we know that the homework from the first lesson had not been done correctly.
We wondered if we could do something about that, and then aNewSpring came up. We converted the practice pages in the book to an online learning environment. Now, we can see immediately if children have already started their homework and if they’re calculating a sum correctly. In this way, we can help them better and keep them informed of what’s going well and what’s not.”
