The research; traditional vs adaptive

aNewSpring together with BSL and HAN University of Applied Sciences, conducted a classical research to investigate the effectiveness of the adaptive learning course compared to a ‘regular’ (traditional) version.

BSL’s adaptive learning programme ‘Medical Mathematics’ was used to conduct this classic experiment on. Medical mathematics is an important skill for healthcare workers. Once every two years, they are obligated to show their competency. This programme is mandatory study material for many nurses and healthcare workers, but for most of them it’s definitely not their favourite subject. It is a very important subject though, because a small error in medical arithmetic can be a matter of life or death.

BSL looked into efficiënt ways to reduce study time but still prove correct competency. Imagine if they could finish their course 33% faster! That’s where the aNewSpring platform and team jumped in. The aNewSpring platform has allowed you to design adaptive learning journeys for more than 10 years already. However, we believe there’s still a lot to learn about this approach and that many more training providers and learners can benefit from it.

BSL and aNewSpring worked together to research adaptive learning in practice. You can now benefit from our acquired knowledge and results.

Let our guests lead the way!

During the pandemic, it was necessary for training businesses to adapt and change quickly. There was no time to think about proper processes for creating online and blended learning journeys. It needed to be done and it needed to be done fast. Due to this turbulent introduction to the world of blended learning, many training companies and learning designers lack a good strategy.

Frans is passionate about commercial leadership and scaling up the company to the next level. That shows in the steps that they have been taking at Krauthammer.

He will share how his company transformed to online learning by making the strategic decision to invest in this, even before the pandemic. What can we learn from their decision?

Krauthammer is a training company with a strategic ambition to focus more on blended and online training, even before the pandemic. They educated their trainers first to become more successful with online training. Now a further transformation is happening: going towards a more blended curriculum with a didactical team and their trainers.

Linda Youssef
Lean Coach at Lean & Verbeeten

A year ago, Linda and her team took the step to start supporting their training digitally. Guida, their online learning environment, originated from the “vision of learning” that they designed for all their programs.

Why this name? Guida is seen as a guide through participants’ learning journey. What is their approach in continuously developing these learning journeys?

Lean Verbeeten is a knowledge and training institute in the field of lean thinking and working, as well as behavioural change and resilience. Ger has been invested in the skills obsession from the start and jumped right into action when we started our search for answers. He put a lot of time and effort in the topic: from interviewing learning professionals for the Perspectives Guide, to writing some blogs on skills himself.

Training provider perspectives
on the 2022 Global Sentiment Survey

Wednesday, May 11th, 2022
4PM (16:00) – till 5PM (17:00) CET
Online

What:
The immensely popular Global Sentiment Survey gives great insights about what’s on the minds of learning professionals all over the world. Together with its creator, the one and only Donald H. Taylor, we will discuss and dive deeper into the results, specifically from the training provider perspective. Regional differences, trends over the years, opportunities and other interesting insights will be talked about.
For whom:
For learning professionals at training providers, learning providers, training organisations or vendors of training products, who want to know what’s going on in the L&D market.

For its 9th year now, the Global Sentiment Survey asks one simple question to learning professionals worldwide: what will be hot in workplace L&D this year?

Together with its creator, Donald H. Taylor, we will find out what training providers specifically can learn from it.

What’s the webinar about?

Everybody loves a list, ranking or top-something about their field of interest. One of the best known examples in the learniverse, is Don Taylor’s Global Sentiment Survey (GSS). But a list needs interpretation to become relevant and give valuable insights. How can you make the most out of the results for your specific situation?

The survey asks what an important topic will be in the full learning and development marketspace. So, the results are quite broad. This does not mean that it is useless for the training providers within that market. It just needs the right interpretation.

During this webinar, we will take a deeper dive into the specific results. We will try to work out what the takeaways are for training providers and how they can use them in their business plans or strategy.

What to expect?

  • A unique look for training providers into one of the largest and sharpest surveys of the learniverse.
  • Results and trends over the years, analysed by region, role, type of organisation and more.
  • Insights, takeaways and probably some new questions for training providers to benefit from what’s to come in their field of work.

Who is giving the webinar?

Donald H Taylor is a veteran in the fields of learning and development, and learning technologies, with experience at every level from design and delivery to chairman of the board.

His nickname, the Don of Learning, says it all. An authority in his field, well respected, influential and with an appropriate style. And, of course, the sense of humour we’ve come to appreciate from the British.

The L&D Global Sentiment Survey takes the pulse of the L&D community worldwide, annually. The one-minute online poll asks L&D professionals internationally what they think will be hot in the following year.

Aggregated, and examined over time, these answers provide a fascinating look at trends in what people in L&D are thinking. The 2022 results from the more than 3,500 participants were published in February.

What:
In learning design, your learning objectives are everything, and more! But writing them isn’t easy. Together with Kelly Irons from DevelopUS, we’ll explore how Bloom’s taxonomy can be helpful for improving learning outcomes. Expect a super practical webinar, with lots of interaction and tips.
For whom:
For trainers, online learning content developers, learning and instructional designers and other learning professionals who are looking for help to improve and achieve learning outcomes.

You have probably heard about Bloom’s taxonomy. That it’s been there a long time, that it’s useful for learning outcomes and maybe even about the criticisms.

Together with Kelly Irons from DevelopUS, we’ll tell you how it can benefit you as a learning designer.

What’s the webinar about?

Why are learning objectives important? What’s the best way to write them? How can I make sure my learners meet their learning objectives by the end of their training? If you’ve ever asked these questions, you’re not alone!

Often, there is a disconnect in what we learn in courses and what we’re able to do after we leave training. Starting your course design with learning objectives is central to making sure your learners achieve those outcomes.

In this webinar, you’ll be able to practically apply the principles of Bloom’s taxonomy as it relates to writing learning objectives.

What to expect?

  • An interactive webinar that gives practical insights for improving your learning outcomes
  • Learn about Bloom’s taxonomy by using Bloom’s taxonomy yourself!
  • Receive a useful handout to take what you have learned into practice.

Who is giving the webinar:

Kelly Irons founded the developUs business in 2013 after nearly twenty years in leadership roles in corporate America. Her background includes roles in both training and organizational development, and public, private and non-profit sectors.

Ruben Baes

Amelior

Kortrijk, Belgium

In 2021, Amelior made great progess in the didactics of blended learning. They chose an approach that works in the long run; a modular approach, flipped classrooms and storyboards. They knew how to get teachers and trainers on board for blended learning and how to make their online offering a valuable addition to the offline moments.

Well before 2020, heydays was a fan of making more use of online learning. The pandemic has shown their point that it can be done in an accessible way; inexpensive and with low effort. The power of making good use of online learning lies to a large extent in the quality of the content. Video proved to be a powerful tool in this respect, offering good support to the live training courses.
